Ways To Keep You Motivated While Working From Home
Have you recently quit your 9-to-5 office job to instead make money online? Sure working from home got tons of benefits. There’s no need to commute. No chatty co-worker to put up with. No boss watching your every move. However, after some time, you will realize it has is own set of downsides. And one of them is easily losing your motivation to work.
Before you get to your workstation desk at home, start the day as though you still got a job in a real office. Get up, take a shower and have a hearty breakfast. Just because no one can see you doesn’t mean you can give up grooming habits. Get out of your pajamas, don something more proper and get to work. You got clients or customers expecting you to be around during office hours.
Working from home makes you easily lose your focus on work. That’s because reasons to be distracted are all around. You’re walking distance from the bed. The TV and DVD player are waiting in the living room. Your pet is seeking for attention. The ref in the kitchen is stuffed with snacks. The key here is having discipline and following a schedule you yourself set.
You can’t expect to work a hundred percent if your office is also the living room. It’s best to make a room in your house as your makeshift office space. It can be anything from the guestroom, attic, to the garage. Other than having an office room, make it look like a real office. Put up shelves, computer workstation furniture, and the likes. Each time you step into it, it’ll be easier to get your working mood on.
To help you stick to a certain schedule, make a to-do list. Plus, set a timeframe that you will follow for each entry you will follow. Check each one off as soon as it’s done. Don’t forget to reward yourself from time to time for a job well done. Unless you want to get burned out, and easily give up on work and succumb to reasons to quit for the rest of the day.
Find during which time of the day you’re at your most productive. Is it early in the morning? Is it mid-afternoon? Whichever time it is, do all your difficult tasks when you’re at you most productive self. Leave easy tasks when you seem to be less lively. It’s during such times where you may also multitask, such as simply sending e-mails while watching soaps.
Working from home can be both beneficial and disadvantageous. Losing your motivation to work can be very devastating. It may mean you going back to your previous job only after a matter of weeks. It’s okay to indulge in the pleasures of working from home. But do it only once in a while and never succumb to it completely.
